Regulations
Florida Sewer Inspection Regulations
Florida sewer systems are regulated by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and local utility authorities. With aging infrastructure in many areas, sewer inspections are highly recommended for homebuyers.
Permits
Connection permits are required from the local utility authority before tying into the public sewer system. Plumbing permits from the county are required for sewer lateral work. All work must be performed by licensed contractors.
Inspections
Florida has several utilities that require sewer inspections as part of property transfer programs. Many areas near environmentally sensitive waterways have mandatory inspection requirements. Annual inspections may be required for certain advanced systems.
